[opensuse] Pattern Recognition, Completely utter OT
Hi list, - I don't know of any more competent to ask than you lot :-) - Given a CCD camera and some large printed digits and letters (on stones and tiles actually), does anyone know of any FOSS sw that'll read/understand/do the trick. i.e. decipher what's printed and output it as text. - actually, it's like what any OCR sw does...only such sw is targeted towards printed matter on paper. -- ------------------------------ Med venlig hilsen/Best regards Verner Kjærsgaard Open Source Academy +45 56964223 Novell Certified Linux Professional 10035701 Linux Counter no 114954 ------------------------------ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Have a start with openCV. It has a machine learning and pattern matching component. Of course, it is a library, and not an application. But there are samples of many things, and a decent o'Reilly book that explains the library. I have a recent build in OBS that you are free to install. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O. FWIW, a good OCR app should be able to import and work with many image formats, and let you select where there is something to recognize. Haven't had time to mess with FOSS OCR in years, but if you're lucky it may have evolved into something useful by now. It might help to use an edgedetect filter, increase contrast and convert to grayscale ... -dnh -- "Only perl can parse Perl." -- Larry Wall -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
