If you really want to move them over, your folders are in mbox format in $HOME/evolution/local/, you can just copy them to $HOME/Mail and kmail should pick them up. Or you can use the kmail tools->import feature to import the folders

Like James said, it should work just fine, 1.2 and 1.4 use the same format for everything, but it's always good to have backups. Always. Not just when you upgrade. Always. Always. Always.
