There´s a new version of sis_driver. I used a recent version of
ubuntu sis driver and works.
I don´t remember the site where I downloaded this driver, but on
google you can search for sis 671/771 driver ubuntu. There´s a 2008
version of driver. Just decompress and put on /usr/xorg/X11/drivers or
something like that.
Cheers.

I had problems with the same sis chipset ~ 4 months ago with my desktop. .. and eventually bought an nvidia video card (~ 30 eur). At that time, only a 2D driver was available and I had to ask it from the developer.. versions of that driver for different linux distributions can be found around the web. You can find the developer's blog from here: http://barroslee.blogspot.com/2007/04/release-sis-671-linux-3d-driver-beta.h... .. you can e-mail her. She's a nice person and will tell you the latest stage of the driver. The weird thing was, that she has made a 3d-driver for linux, but SiS (a weird, windows-oriented asian firm) refused to make it public. As a linux user, I learned to avoid SiS chipsets at all cost (I also had a lot of problems with their integrated network card). I remember she had the driver for the 32-bit version for suse 10.2. I tried the mandriva 64-bit driver with suse 10.3 / 64-bit, but it never worked. So you have been able to find a working 3D driver for linux? Boy.. I sure would like to get my hands on that.. Here some treasures from my bookmarks: http://www.linuxconsulting.ro/xorg-drivers/ http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=615094&highlight=M671 Cheers, Sampsa
