I installed it only to get vmware working again, but I'm using the new 2.2.16 SuSE provided kernel to run the system. What's your boot situation? You know, scsi, ide, cdrom, etc? If you're booting to scsi, did you mk_initrd before you rebooted? -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://online-isp.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
Presumably reiserfs isn't compiled in. I have the same problem on a Mandrake 7.1 box I'm playing with - their 2.2.16 upgrade completely freaks the system because it's incomplete and doesn't support resier, so it can't mount / 'cos its a reiser ptn. Had to rescue it with a Suse CD :) On Sat, 1 Jul 2000, Brad Shelton wrote:

No, I got reiserfs support compiled in, though I did discover today that reiserfs.fsck is missing for some reason......that may be my problem.... though it still doesnt address the problem getting PPP to happen On Sun, 02 Jul 2000, wulfie spewed forth into the void:

How did you do that? I can do nada whith my reiserfs-partitions (all but /boot) using the SuSE 6.4 rescue system. It always wants to fsck which it can't. That's why I made / an ext2fs-partition today on my son's computer.

Ah... must've been a lilo config problem. PPP is best used as a module and that is likely your problem. When you try to use PPP it tries to load as a module, plus you have it compiled into the source. Look for the PPP module config in conf.modules and comment it out or turn it off. That may get you past that problem.
