[opensuse] screensaver during video
This has been happening as long as I can remember it, but I finally figured I'd ask about it. Using dragonplayer or either kaffeine, when I play a video - whether it's a DVD or a standalone - I have to move the mouse every few minutes or the screensaver kicks in. I don't mind that happening with flash-based movie viewers like on youtube, but the fact that I haven't seen this issue brought up before makes me think that perhaps it's just me with the regular video players. And I've looked for it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

As of no later than openSUSE 10.3, the KPowersave tray applet comes with a pre-defined "Presentation" scheme which inhibits the initiation of the screen saver. Not as good, I suppose, as the application putting that scheme or its equivalent into effect itself, it's better than having to remember to hit a modifier key or move the mouse. SMPlayer has such an option in Preferences -> General -> Video -> "Disable screensaver". I have no idea if it works though, i use the power button when i want to save the screen :-)
