[SLE] modprobe ne2k-pci fails on HP Brio
Greetings. I've been trying to install 6.3 on a new HP Brio (Intel Celeron 500, 128 K cache, 64 Mb RAM, Intel 3D Direct AGP, PCI Sound Fusion, CD, HP 10/100BT PCI Ethernet) and it can't see the Ethercard. The HP 10/100BT is a re-badged Accton NE2000-compatible PCI card. LEDs flash on the Ethercard indicating suggesting it is alive. I've tried a couple of different kernels. But ... # grep eth0 /etc/modules.conf alias eth0 ne2k-pci # modprobe eth0 /lib/modules/2.2.13/net/ne2k-pci.o: init_module: Device or resource busy The HP salesman, who seems reasonably Linux-friendly, thinks I need a later kernel; he thinks it isn't talking correctly to the PCI bus at boot time after the bus negociates the various device addresses. Is this plausible ? If it's a new kernel I need, where should I get it ? Could it be the wrong driver? I remember when I was using an Accton PCI card (10/100) that I had to use a Realtek PCI card driver (Realtek 8139? not sure). That was at least with an older kernel 2.2.7 as far as I remember.
