[SLE] can't get kernel compiled??
Hi, I was just trying to re-compile my 2.2.14 kernel for my SuSE 6.4... but when I tried there was not make file there to compile with so I got the error msg. unknow command. I found the dir /usr/src/linux in there is /include/ and a whole lot of sub dir.'s with /asm-blah.blah.blah like /asm-i386 o am i looking in the wrong place? if this is not what I'm looking for does someone know where on the CD's is the kernel source? or rpm's I need? bruce -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

You may not have the whole kernel source, just the includes. The whole source is in package lx_suse, I believe. If you do have the whole source, the most essential thing to do is to read /usr/src/linux/README carefully. It is very concise and contains essential information to make a working kernel. .david -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

The kernel sources are installed in /usr/src/linux. If you only find an includes/ directory there, then the sources are not installed. In this case, start up YaST and install package 'lx_suse' which is in series 'd'.
