does anyone on the list listen to baseball via streaming audio on mlb.com? every year it's half way thru the sason before i can get it working on a linux box, though it works well on a windows machine. this year i am still stumped. a paid subscription is needed to listen to games but there are usually audio clips that can be heard gratis.

What format does it use? RealPlayer, Windows Media Player? Quicktime?
If it uses one of these formats you can use something like Crossover
plugin. If it uses RealPlayer you can download the component, but it
takes a bit of setup. The latest Ximian Desktop (Professional version)
supports RealPlayer without all the setup.

in windows it uses the latest realplayer. i think part of the problem is that the site is total javascript. if i watch closely i see a very brief error message regarding javascript. i'm using realplayer8 with konq but have the same problem with mozilla. the site has a setup utility where i can succsessfully watch a streaming video of a barry bonds home run but i can't get it to work with the site's regular stream. thanks larry On Tuesday 10 June 2003 12:07, Pete Goodall wrote:

Consider the newest Netscape for Linux I think it is 7.2 It comes with Realplayer for linux and sets it up automagically in SuSE 8.2 no fuss no muss. Its just realaudio with a secure connection front end. Its all contracted to SUN. You need javascript turned on, and cookies too. In KDE i connect with Kong and it makes me step thru this test screen and on that screen you tell it you have and older real player and you want to use it instead of downloading that RealOne piece of crap. Once you get past that test you can log in like you do in windows and it works fairly well. (Suse 8.1). I think all subscribers should send email to MLB and lobby for some other stream (mp3, ogg, anything) that gives a choice of players becasue Realplayer sucks big time. Go Mariners. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
