I' ve recently installed S.u.S.E. on my computer but I' m having troubles making it to work. I subscribed this mailing list only a couple of days ago so excuse me if I make stupid questions or that have been made a lot of times here. I hope you' ll help me. Thanks.
My Suse Linux does not recognize my NE2000 ethernet card. During installation it was correctly recognized and the installation program assigned it a module but at boot I get these errors:
Setting un network device Mar 3 11:24:26 modprobe: can' t locate module broadcast SIOCSIFADDR: No such device Mar 3 11:24:26 modprobe: can' t locate module broadcast Mar 3 11:24:26 modprobe: can' t locate module broadcast SIOCSIFNETMASK: No such device
and at system shutdown it complains about a module "down" and a device not found. I added all card settings to /etc/conf.modules and appended "ether=12,0x300,eth0" to /etc/lilo.conf via Yast utility but the card is not recognized.
When my card will be recognized, how will I activate it as there is no "netcfg" utility?
Tried to recompile the kernel?

Suse uses my HP Deskjet 850C printer via "hpdj" driver (found in Yast printer setup) but I' m unable to make it printing colors: black and white only. :(((( What am I doing wrong?
-------------
While trying to compile some apps, I get the error "netconfig.h file not found". And it' s true: I don' t have it! Which package it belongs to?
-------------
I would like to compile and use the Irc client at <A HREF="http://www-isia.cma.fr/~bernard/pyirc/"><A HREF="http://www-isia.cma.fr/~bernard/pyirc/</A">http://www-isia.cma.fr/~bernard/pyirc/ but when I run ./configure I immediately get some errors and ./configure stops. This is the config.log:
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
configure:528: checking for c++ configure:528: checking for g++ configure:528: checking for gcc configure:559: checking whether the C++ compiler (gcc ) works configure:573: gcc -o conftest conftest.C 1>&5 gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `cc1plus': No such file or directory configure: failed program was: #line 569 "configure" #include "confdefs.h" main(){return(0);}
It does not find c++, g++, it finds successfully gcc (I have version 2.72 installed) but it says gcc is unable to make executable files: whats' wrong?? Is there a specific program to compile .cpp files?

Maybe you missed a packet upon installation... and you'd better hope is not corrupt installation files... :)
As window manager, I use FVWM95 in 640X480 (my old monitor does not allow higher resolutions) and there is a button bar on the top of the screen (FvwmBanner? FvwmButtons?) that exceed screen lenght, hiding a lot of buttons. I would like to resize it removing some of them (for example Xeyes and one of the clocks) and resize the Pager from 6 screens to 4. I succeded doing the last thing by editing .fvwm95rc but the size of the pager is unchanged: now I have 4 stretched rectangles! What can I do?
Thanks again for your answer.
Bye.
Since the installation is recent, in your place the first thing I'd do, would be a full re-installation, and watch for error messages, that could prove you innocent, and put guilt in the installation files... ;) I know this don't help much, but...
