yast says that the external interface if one has adsl is ppp0 and eth0 would be internal but when i do ifcofig -a i dont see ppp0 there is eth0 also my external interface then?

Depends on your adsl equipment. If the adsl modem is also a router then you don't use ppp, just a default gateway in the routing table. If the adsl modem lets you setup a VPN then you do need ppp to connect to the modem. Maybe you have to run some adsl setup script first? Theo -- Theo v. I'm not sure I know exactly what you mean with "my gateway", but if the linksys connects the ADSL then you just need to set the right route info and setup the linksys for your ADSL connection with username, password, provider etc. # route add -net 192.168.2.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 dev eth0 # route add default gw 192.168.2.2 dev eth0 IP# and devices are examples ofcourse.
