[opensuse] (OT) Charter Communications - refusal to correct a bill
Dumped Charter for refusal to correct a bill - even after going to the VP Steve PLUS $61 billion in debt In Sept, we got a bill with the extra charges for HD (digital) service (we NEVER ordered). I called CS (Customer Service) and they figured out that we owed $86.53. So, I paid it. Got Oct. bill with a Balance Forward of $11.79. What the hell? Fired off another call to CS and they said that that was correct - how - they said that we were supposed to pay $98.32 - but - I kept trying to tell them that we didn't have and not ordered HD service. After many minutes of, literally, arguing - I got disconnected - THEY hung up on me. Called back again, got another CS rep, they finally said that that was correct (from before) and they tried to tell me that the $11.79 was rebated in the detail break down. WELL, the detail on my bill added up to only $11.13. So I kept on trying to get an answer on where the other 66 cents went. They said that what they were looking at added up to $11.79.(By this time I was livid) Finally, I mentioned that I'm not paying the bill until we get a corrected bill - they responded "you have a correct bill". Again an argument ensued and they hung up on me again. Somewhere I got the VP's email address and fired off an email to him about this - TWICE within a couple of days. Made a third call - going through all the same BS as before and requested another corrected bill. Again they said that the bill was correct. Again, I said the I'm not paying the bill until we get a corrected one. This time - I - hung up on them. The next day, my wife called and got the same BS and requested a corrected bill. Well, we got one, BUT it was only a screen print of the same exact bill - including showing that 66 cents in not accounted for. She called back to get an a reason why we got the same bill and NOT a corrected bill. They replied that they can only send out what was in the "system". Fired off a third email to the VP Steve and went through everything up to now. And added that if this don't get resolved I'm not paying the bill and we are switching to AT&T U-Verse. He apologized and was going to credit our bill - which he did. BUT never got the bill and the missing 66 cents resolved. Now we are on AT&T U-Verse for almost the same price. -- Duaine Hechler Piano, Player Piano, Pump Organ Tuning, Servicing & Rebuilding Reed Organ Society Member Florissant, MO 63034 (314) 838-5587 dahechler@att.net www.hechlerpianoandorgan.com -- Home & Business user of Linux - 10 years -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

So, I guess you missed the "(OT)" in the subject line !!! Basically, it's a warning to check your bill (charter users) and make sure your not getting screwed. Reading glasses ? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Perhaps Carlos is suggesting it should have been posted in opensuse-offtopic, a very low traffic mailing list which deserves more posts ;) Bob -- Registered Linux User #463880 FSFE Member #1300 GPG-FP: A6C1 457C 6DBA B13E 5524 F703 D12A FB79 926B 994E openSUSE 11.1, Kernel 2.6.27.7-9-default, KDE 3.5.10 Intel Core2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz, 4GB DDR RAM, nVidia GeForce 9200GS -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ok.. I'll play your game. Why do I care? OT belongs in the OT list. I doubt if Carlos gets Charter in Spain. I darn sure don't get it in Germany. But that's OK.. He did, he asked you not to use your mail client's "Reply" command to start a new topic. This causes mixing of threads on mail readers having thread displaying capabilities. This threading is based on a header: In-Reply-To: <200901251047.05715.rschulz@sonic.net> from your current post and/or References: <497C99A1.3080209@att.net> <200901251923.39259.mike@mikenjane.net> <Pine.BSO.4.53.0901251228100.3071@mail.omnitec.net> <200901251047.05715.rschulz@sonic.net> also from your current post He was nice about it and, not knowing your knoweldge level, refrained from providing a 3rd graders explanation. If you cannot remember the list address, you can reply to an existing post if you remove the headers noted above. I can only agree with Amedees assertion - one violation and I get a ticket. If it's bad enough, I get an official warning and when it's really bad I get to deposit my license for a while. We're going meta-OT here but OK I'll bite. As you might have guessed from my tld, I live in Belgium. Per Jessen (further down in the thread) is so nice that he puts his location in his signature: Zürich, CH. The Swiss police have the reputation of being the strictest in Europe. And if you live in the same region as where your ISP sonic.net operates, then you live in California. One of my favorite programs on tv is the one with real footage of police chasing criminals, usually with a lot of car accidents. Very often in California. Google is your friend. WD-40 (which stands for "water displacement formula #40) is a mixture of Stoddard Solvent (similar to kerosene in the sense that all hydrocarbons that come from a refining stack are similar to kerosene) and mineral oil. So the function of the Stoddard solvent is to help displace the water that is responsible for causing the corrosion, leaving behind a layer of mineral oil that helps prevent further water incursion. And it can be used to squirt into that squeaking fan on your Linux box.
Ciao.

Maybe I could ask kere about my satelite dish getting rusty due to the sea breeze, there sure is some kind soul here that works with EM coatings :-P Use WD-40
WD-40 is almost totally useless because it is predominantly kerosene.

I'll only post once on this subject. WD-40 is pretty much worthless with FAR better products on the market. As to his dish, there are a number of applications that will stop corrosion, and they aren't expensive. First, if he removes the corrosion, then clean the disk to remove all oils and other debris, then apply an even coat of any good HARD paste floor wax like Johnson and Johnson. Buff it, let it dry hard, and do the same 2 more times.....done. The one I'd use, as I've run it through saline spray tests in a warm humidity chamber for a number of ours with NONE, NADA, NO corrosion on bar steel bar stock is "Brown Polymer," which was developed for firearms. One even coating on that dish and I'd bet it'd never corrode again.
