Which types of cards are compatible with linux?
It depends onwhat you mean by 'compatible'. There's 'compatible' as in 'works-out-of-the-box', in which case you want one of the bttv cards like the WinTV Or there's 'compatible' as in 'it's possible to get it working if you really want to go through a lot of hoops, and you have a lot of time, knowledge, and patience', in which case you might want to try the PVR250/350 type of card. - Richard. -- Richard Kimber http://www.psr.keele.ac.uk/

Check this site for more info, mythtv has a lot of info, link in the page. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please* "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge

The newest WinTV Primio FM cards have a LG TAPE-S001D tuner that is not supported. I've changed this for a Pinnacle PCTV Pro with FM that works fine with SuSE 9.1 -- Benjamí http://weblog.bitassa.net . -- Benjamí http://weblog.bitassa.net .

A friend of mine has got the new Pinnacle PCTV 300i working under SuSE 9.2 Which is quite ironic as it will not work properly under Windows 2000 only XP flavour of M$'s offerings. To be honest I would check out one of the hardware compatibility sites or even the manufacturers homepage. E-mail them and ask if it works under Linux. If it doesn't, you can always suggest that they look at supporting Linux because they have lost a sale this time :-) Then, go elsewhere and buy a card that the manufacturers support with Linux. -- Take care.
