My printer has many possible setting. At one time there was an option in YaST to propose multiple queues which I found quite useful (timesaving). I don't seem to be able to find that option any more. However, there is a reference to it in the printer setup under the page headed "Queue Name". In the column on the left it has a paragraph on Proposing Multiple Queues. However, there is no options shown on the page. Does anyone know how to resurrect this feature or is it now obsolete or it is a bug? Thanks Eddie

It was removed because it did work only if a Foomatic PPD file was used. In all other cases (e.g. PPDs from GimpPrint or from manufacturers) it cannot work. It was removed because for CUPS it is neither needed nor is it in compliance to the design of CUPS to have multiple queues for one printer. To have several predefined settings for one printer in CUPS, create so called "instances" of one queue, see the CUPS documentation in particular see "man lpoptions". Thanks for the reply. May I make a few observations? 1. Since the option was removed shouldn't someone also remove the comments referring to it in YaST? 2. My printer, HP Deskjet 815C (and possibly the Epson R300, I'll have to check when I go home) does use a Foomatic PPD file. 3. If multiple queues are inconsistent with CUPS, then why have the options to manually set up multiple queues etc. with CUPS in YaST? Please don't get me wrong, I only as the above questions because I'm curios. I'm not complaining or anything like that. Regards Eddie

Thanks for the bug report.

In this particular case it would work for you but we don't like to have a feature which works in some cases but in others it cannot. Of course with some additional special code and some more automated testing it would be possible to keep this non-CUPS-compliant feature but we don't like to have a non-CUPS-compliant feature.

Multiple queues for the same printer are inconsistent with the
design of CUPS how this case should be handled with CUPS.
But of course if you like you can set up as many queues for
one printer as you like. A drawback of multiple queues for one
printer is that the user can no longer use "lpstat -p
