I have three HD's on my SuSE 9.3 system. One of them, hdb, has two partitions: abnormal:/home/computation # fdisk -l /dev/hdb Disk /dev/hdb: 46.1 GB, 46103371776 bytes 16 heads, 63 sectors/track, 89331 cylinders Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 = 516096 bytes Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hdb1 * 1 16305 8217243 55 EZ-Drive /dev/hdb2 16306 89331 36805104 83 Linux fstab mounts the linux partiton on boot, but when I installed the system the installer didn't recognize /dev/hdb1. So, my question is, what should be the fstab entry to mount /dev/hdb1? I hate to lose the drive space. (It's probably there because this machine used to have an MS os on it). I have three HD's on my SuSE 9.3 system. One of them, hdb, has two partitions:
abnormal:/home/computation # fdisk -l /dev/hdb
Disk /dev/hdb: 46.1 GB, 46103371776 bytes 16 heads, 63 sectors/track, 89331 cylinders Units = cylinders of 1008 * 512 = 516096 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/hdb1 * 1 16305 8217243 55 EZ-Drive /dev/hdb2 16306 89331 36805104 83 Linux
fstab mounts the linux partiton on boot, but when I installed the system the installer didn't recognize /dev/hdb1.
So, my question is, what should be the fstab entry to mount /dev/hdb1? I hate to lose the drive space. (It's probably there because this machine used to have an MS os on it).

If you are sure that on that partition there is nothing important, you can go in YaST/System/Petitioner. Select the partition, click on edit, and there select "Format as" the type you want (reiser, etc.). There is an entry for mount point as well, so just type in where you want this partition mounted. Also, I'm not sure, so someone else have to correct me if I'm wrong, but maybe you can delete that partition, and than edit (resize) hdb2 to expand on that space. As I said, I do not know if the last suggestion is doable/safe. Cheers Sunny -- Get Firefox http://www.spreadfirefox.com/?q=affiliates&id=10745&t=85

Although EZ-Drive is a listed partition type under fdisk, it's not a kernel supported partition type. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ...
