Hi all, Are there any YUM respositories of the updated Gnome files like for KDE? I've found files, but they seem to only exist for YaST2 updating, none seem to have the ability to work with YUM/KYum. Is Smart able to see and use the yast mirrors/respositories? thanks for any help Lee

You mean RPM-MD repos ;)
I've found files, but they seem to only exist for YaST2 updating, none seem to have the ability to work with YUM/KYum.
I'm assuming you mean the ones in supplementary/GNOME, and the answer is no. At some point in the future GNOME packages may, like KDE, be moved the Build Service (which is where the RPM-MD repo of KDE is generated), but in the meantime, they're in the main internal SUSE build system.
Is Smart able to see and use the yast mirrors/respositories?
Yes it is, as well as RPM-MD and APT (and many, many, more folks...) -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org Packages for SUSE: http://usr-local-bin.org/rpms Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/imin

Don't bother with YaST - I love it for some functions, but for package management, Smart is as close to nirvana as I've found, try smart --gui (that's the smart-gui package) and if you're a KDE user, there is a little thing for easing adding channels outside of the GUI in the smart-addons package. Get the latest version from Pascal's repo.

The MD stands for MetaData and strictly the repos are controlled by that data. YUM is just a frontend to accessing such repos, but there can be others (such as Smart). The reason I mention this is that when you add a channel in Smart it correctly names channels of that type as RPM-MD, not YUM. -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org Packages for SUSE: http://usr-local-bin.org/rpms Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/imin
