Guys- Whats up with all the instances of CRON that fireup when sysstat is installed? Im familiar with this on other distros, and they dont fire off 4-5 instances, also.. Lots of defunct cron processes throughout the day also. This is 7.3 I see there is a cron update from the website but haven't installed it yet as it doesn't address this problem. I haven't messed with the sysstat cron job but sa2 only needs to run once right? urs4:/ # ps -ef |grep CRON root 1794 817 0 Feb10 ? 00:00:00 /USR/SBIN/CRON root 24214 817 0 Feb10 ? 00:00:00 /USR/SBIN/CRON root 3379 817 0 00:00 ? 00:00:00 /USR/SBIN/CRON root 3945 817 0 06:00 ? 00:00:00 /USR/SBIN/CRON root 25878 817 0 12:00 ? 00:00:00 /USR/SBIN/CRON urs4:/ # ps -ef |grep sa root 850 1 0 Feb10 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/lisa -c /etc/lisarc root 1799 1794 0 Feb10 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/lib/sa/sa2 -A root 24219 24214 0 Feb10 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/lib/sa/sa2 -A root 3384 3379 0 00:00 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/lib/sa/sa2 -A root 3950 3945 0 06:00 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/lib/sa/sa2 -A root 25883 25878 0 12:00 ? 00:00:00 /bin/sh /usr/lib/sa/sa2 -A root 5990 5047 0 12:39 pts/0 00:00:00 grep sa urs4:/ # Thanks. -- Jim Bonnet

Hello.. Nevermind.. I think I have found the issue, the crontab written during install for this is wrong, I think, and it does not send sa2 into the background, I have added & to the crontab and will see if this fixes the problem. Regards- Jim
