All, After nearly 20 years on this list, seem my ISP has fsck'ed up its mail servers and I am no longer getting list messages, according to Per due to a 521 service not available from my ISP. (WTF?) Any way, I do get direct mails and I do get an occasional mail from the list. Just understand I'm not ignoring the list. I've asked a@o.o for log entries so I can prove to my ISP they have a problem -- terrible service now... Joy... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

Just change mail provider. It is easier. Your provider has been bouncing my (telefonica) emails for many years. Ditch them, the faster the better. Last example: <drankinatty@suddenlinkmail.com>: host mx.suddenlinkmail.com[208.180.40.132] said: 421 dalifep01.suddenlink.net connection refused from [86.109.101.161] (in reply to end of DATA command) ............... I don't remember the last time I was able to send you an email. They've always bounced. If this one gets through, you'll know, but have always had it be undeliverable.
Any way, I do get direct mails
Haven't had a direct mail to you work for several years. The above "delay" turns in to a failure after 5 days.
so I can prove to my ISP they have a problem -- terrible service now... Joy...
Something is screwy about your setup Never had problems like the above with others email -- but consistently your email seems broken. I wonder how many emails your provider blocks....?

I have had this same commercial account for 21 years. Was Cox Communications for the first 10 - flawless service, live support with dedicated number. Cox sold to Suddenlink about 2010 - same great service. Suddenlink was bought by Patrick Drahi (Altice) in 2015 and customer service and support went to hell, but the price went up?? Regional monopolies do have their advantages. I have had tickets open since September (when I got bounced from the two Arch lists I was on -- due to the same type mail host screw up at Suddenlink) -- but it has never been fixed. (that host was dalifep05) So they have a block list screw up buried in one of their hosts and they are not competent to figure out which host or how to fix it -- so this same issue seems to have metastasized... -- David C. I was for quite some time unable to receive emails or any type of messages from the sane mailing list. I had been using a hotmail email account during that time. When I read this "block list screw up" I could not help but comment here. I was able to sign up to the list but never received any mail whatsoever. When I decided to migrate to a different email provider I began to receive mailings. I was literally shocked because it was somewhat difficult to have to try to figure things out completely on my own. Regards

I had problems like that with two different ISPs, and finally determined that using such optional ISP services was more trouble than it was worth, and moved my email to "mail.com", which I have found to be trouble-free. Leslie -- openSUSE Leap 15.2 x86_64

Maybe post the logs on a public server somewhere so that David can access them?

He should not have any problem accessing the list archives nor progress.o.o - I could just as easily use any other server, but I still would not be able to notify him :-) If only he had an alternate address, gmx or gmail or some such. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (19.1°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland.

Thanks, that might well come in useful. For starters, let him know about the ticket he opened - https://progress.opensuser.org/issues/92065 -- Per Jessen, Zürich (19.8°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - your free DNS host, made in Switzerland.

Or use thunderbird with imap. Thunderbird has a wizard: you tell it the address, and it will setup things correctly for gmail (and many others). If you want to use your own sendmail, then that's extra points, but I can explain. :-) -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.2 x86_64 at Telcontar)
