Hi, In my quest for knowledge and enlightenment I'm trying to get subversion set up; and the first thing I'd like to achieve is to get svnserve going. My setup is SUSE 10.0 on an AMD64bit dual core machine. Everything has been installed via YaST and updated via YOU. I have svnserver version 1.2.3: peter@linux:~> svnserve --version svnserve, version 1.2.3 (r15833) compiled Sep 13 2005, 02:25:01 Copyright (C) 2000-2005 CollabNet. Subversion is open source software, see http://subversion.tigris.org/ This product includes software developed by CollabNet (http://www.Collab.Net/). The following repository back-end (FS) modules are available: * fs_base : Module for working with a Berkeley DB repository. * fs_fs : Module for working with a plain file (FSFS) repository. When I try to enable svnserve in YaST, I get: /etc/init.d/svnserve start returned 2 (invalid or excess arguments) Looking at the svnserve script in /etc/init.d, I see: case "$1" in start) echo -n "Starting svnserve " ## Start daemon with startproc(8). If this fails ## the return value is set appropriately by startproc. startproc -u "$SVNSERVE_USERID" -g "$SVNSERVE_GROUPID" -e $SVNSERVE_BIN $SVNSERVE_OPTIONS # Remember status and be verbose rc_status -v ;; ... Now, as far as I know those environment variables, except for SVNSERVE_BIN, have no value. The complete script is attached. Can anyone see what I need to do in order to get svnserve up and running?
