[opensuse] opensuse@opensuse.org > users@lists.opensuse.org change question
Hello: I tried to send messages to the list as before, using the address opensuse@opensuse.org. The messages did not get to the list. I had to do internet search to find out what could be the problem and found that the address has been changed to users@lists.opensuse.org. Could someone please point me to the message in this mailing list that announced this change? Also, it seems that the list's webpage (https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/) is not updated anymore. Is there a new address for that too? Usually I just check the list on the web and use my mail program only to send messages. Thanks, Istvan

It was not announced on this list. See Per post for the answer to your other questions. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.1 (Legolas))

It was not announced on this list.
I got e-mail to recipient address I used to subscribe to openSUSE lists which listed all lists I was subscribed to. First mail was before change (pointing to wiki page), second mail after change with changed list addresses.

Yes, that is still supported. This reply will also be sent to that address.
The messages did not get to the list.
In which way did they "not get to the list"? did they bounce? Fyi, I don't see any postings from your address to opensuse@opensuse.org.
Could someone please point me to the message in this mailing list that announced this change?
Patrick sent the wiki link, the announcement was sent to opensuse-project on 7 November, then directly to every subscriber on 9 November and the successful completion also announced on 10 November.
Also, it seems that the list's webpage (https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/) is not updated anymore. Is there a new address for that too?

It did not show up among list messages. I sent it twice before and I got none of them in my mailbox.

?? You mean this subject or any subject? Just a few of my previous postings: https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2020-11/msg00034.html https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2020-10/msg00299.html https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2020-10/msg00336.html

Indeed I got a message that was sent directly to my mailbox. I would expect such important messages to be sent on the lists too. Then those who don't check their mailboxes regularly and follow the list on the webpage, like me, could see the info. I think this was an unprofessional move.
Also, it seems that the list's webpage (https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/) is not updated anymore. Is there a new address for that too?

That's just useless mess (awful). How cant I get something like the old weblist, which was very transparent and clear: https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2020-10/all.html Please do not take this as a personal insult, I just very disappointed with this change. Istvan

I assume the web "page" is created by the mail list server software, which now is mailman and previously it was mlmmj. There are many customization options, but there is a limit to what can be done. Also there are other tools to access the list that are being prepared. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)

None of them arrived at our mailservers. If you can check their message-ids and/or when you sent them, I can double check.

Whatever you tried to send just before you started this thread.

We discussed it and decided it was best to inform every subscriber directly - anyone subscribed to the nomail list version would not receive a list announcement, and we had to be inclusive. We also suspected that most people would consider direct personal email more important than a list announcement that could easily be overlooked for days.

That is no longer available and won't be unless someone decides to re-create it. The list archives were never meant as an interface for reading the list, they are for reference only. Maybe you could use gmane or something like that? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (8.2°C) Member, openSUSE Heroes.

Not to mention the idea that putting pale gray text on a white background is the way to make a webpage (which affects too many websites unfortunately).

There is no doubt room for improvement, but we have fairly limited resources and we were under some time pressure too. Feel free to write to admin@o.o and describe your issues. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (8.0°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - free dynamic DNS, made in Switzerland.

Istvan, I found it in my junk folder a few days ago -- not where I normally look. I didn't clue into the problem until Per sent a message wondering if the factory list had gone quiet.... -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
