I installed vmware 5.5.1 onto 10.1 and then applied the vmware-any-any patch. vmware-config.pl ran fine but when I attempt to run vmware in complains that: vmware is installed, but it has not been (correctly) configured for this system. To (re-)configure it, invoke the following command: /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl. Re-running the command and re-booting have no effect and vmware still won't launch. Any ideas? You should no longer config with /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl. Use the runme script that comes with the any-any patch. Also ... make sure you have downloaded the latest patch. I had problems with an earlier one that had worked in 10.0. http://linux.wordpress.com/2006/05/29/running-vmware-workstation-55-on-suse-... Check out the above site. Either the default config is incorrect (any ideas what might be amiss?) or it is correct and vmware is unable to read it. Given the number of times I've installed successfully run vmware on different machines and the ocasionally odd behavior of 10.1, I'm leaning towards the latter. Keep your thoughts and suggestions coming.
