[opensuse] RE Error response with simple WINE usage
Can someone help me with the following error response using 'wine' multivac-ii:/home/xxxxxx/dell # wine YDS8.EXE wine: creating configuration directory '/root/.wine'... Failed to open the service control manager. The.exe file is a self compressed .exe file. I have tried this on a straighet .exe file with the same error response Scott

Scott This happens, when wine creates a new .wine directory.
on a sidenote: "Normally" you should not run wine as superuser. It is always much more secure if you use wine with your "mortal" user account. When you google for the error messagee, it is usually considered harmless. Imho a much more important question is: Which application do you want to run with Wine? Another one: What happens, if you try once more, i.e. after the initial .wine ceration+configuration has been done? regards Eberhard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
