My idea is to make this email list a usenet group and have it available on nntp.suse.org. Then the http://groups.google.com will have a searchable archive, and it would solve the problem of the list sometimes having over a hundred articles to get. As a usenet group, you could just get the headers, and then download the article bodies that interest you.
There are scripts that perform the email-list-to-usenet conversion, so you can have it either way, get an email list or get usenet articles.
nntp.perl.com works this way, an email-2-usenet system, and it works great.
Hear, hear! I second the motion. I've been wishing for something like this for a long time. -jrh
