[opensuse] Unwanted IPv6 address - 15.1
Somehow my notebook has managed to acquire an unwanted IPv6 address. It has a /128 prefix and is similar to the one assigned to my firewall. I assumed this happened when I connected the computer directly to the modem, rather than the local network. Any idea how I can get rid of this? tnx jk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It will likely expire automatically. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (15.4°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It's been a week already and I don't ever recall seeing that happen before. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

A week - sounds like it is being renewed then. Anyway, you can always just delete it: ip addr del <addr> dev <device> -- Per Jessen, Zürich (14.6°C) http://www.cloudsuisse.com/ - your owncloud, hosted in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I don't know how as that address has to be handed out by my ISP, when the computer is connected directly to the modem. It hasn't been for a week.
Anyway, you can always just delete it:
ip addr del <addr> dev <device>
That did it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It's a notebook. It's been turned on & off many times. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I just tried connecting directly to the cable modem again and saw I was getting the same /128 address and not one with a /64 prefix. I then connected to my LAN again and that /128 is gone. I guess the other time it retained the address when it shouldn't have. Also, that /128 address is unusual. I have plugged directly into my modem several times before, for testing, and it worked.
