Despite all the warnings on this listserv, I bought a Dell desktop with an Intel i845G graphics chipset built into the motherboard. I installed 8.0 but on booting up, all I get is the Linux: prompt. I have two questions: If I use Sax2 and install the chipset by hand (I have the SuSE blurb on how to use Sax2) I need advise as to the best way to set things up using Sax2. How should I go about it? What would be the effect of following Intel's advice as to setting things up? Intel advises: If your version of Linux* does not support the Intel 845G/GL chipset, the VESA driver that comes with XFree86* can be used. To usethe VESA driver, modify the XF86Config-4 file and change the driver line to: Driver "vesa" What would be the effect of making that change? Thanks for your time dj tuchler
I also have i845G On Wednesday 04 September 2002 23:48, Dennis Tuchler wrote:

this is normal if you don't have X-Windows set-up properly

I use sax2... just select Vesa or framebufer driver.

this could also be done if you know how to set up this manually. But, I would rather use sax2 since it's easier.
