I have really enjoyed using evolution 1.2.1 on suse 8.1, BUT
It prints headers and footers, however, I can only see the upper half of
the last line.
I can find no way to adjust printing, other that choosing fixed and
variable fonts.
Anyone seen this? Is it a paper size problem?

SuSE's cups defaults to A4... if you are like me and live where there's a format called "letter", then you'll need to configure your cups printer's paper size. Use the cups administration directly though... I don't think YaST has everything quite figured out with regards to cups yet. Everytime you make a change to your printer you may want to re-verify the papersize... seems to get set to A4 even when you don't want it. If anyone knows how to alter the cups default behavior to use letter rather than a4, please post. This might not be your problem... just something I've noticed. Also, for anyone using 8.0 (not 8.1) you'll need an update libgimpprint in order to use an epson printer... there's a bug in libgimpprint. Thanks, Chris

I checked. All setttings are to Letter. I thought maybe, since evolution is a gnome app, that gnome might have a global printer setting, but I can not locate one.

You can put a .lpoptions file in $HOME, with (for me): Default LJ1200 media=A4,Normal,Upper sides=one-sided cpi=12 lpi=10 Change the Default printer name & media and you should be set. I already had a /home/ed/.lpoptions--just didn't have enough information
in it.
Thanks.
