Hi guys.. is possible to Bond Two (or more pair) network Card Interfaces using SuSE Linux? And where can I find more information... about how to install, setup, etc the necessary software+drivers+modules, etc and if I need any special hardware for that goal. Thanks in advance!! bye --ed
Yes, I haven't tried it though... /usr/src/linux/Documentation/networking/bonding.txt Linux User wrote:

A couple of days ago, on something "almost completely unrelated", I found this link: http://heroinewarrior.com/firehose.php3 This comes from the "Cinelerra" [formerly "broadcast2000"] folks -- it is designed to "link together" multiple ethernet devices for higher overall bandwidth [even diverse devices -- the page talks about linking a 100mbit PCI card and a 400mbit "firewire ethernet" adapter together to create a 500mbit "pipe"]

Support for bonding network cards is compiled into the stock SuSE-kernel and if you compile your own then there is an option for it as well. The only additional software needed comes with the linux-kernel sources. Have a look at linux/Documentation/networking/bonding.txt In the same directory you'll find the source "ifenslave.c" which is needed as well. I've tried this on a machine a couple of weeks ago and it worked well, NFS performance actually doubled Hope your switch supports bonding. I ran my test on an Intel510T that can "bond" 1,2 or 4 ports. Cheers! /Adam @ MadSci AB, Uppsala, Sweden
