I would like to like gnome since it doesn't look like something from Disney, but it seems to fail all the time with no hint at all of what to do about it. Using the latest 2.8 rpm's from Mr. Ogley, I invoke "music player". When I try to add anything to a library or playlist, I get nothing bu a box with messages like "Failed to create gnomevfssrc element: check your installation" and no hint about what to do about it. Is this familiar to anyone? Any way to fix it? Thanks, Henry Harpending

When I try to load any music (by "opening a folder") with rhythmbox, I get a message telling me "failed to create gnomevfssrc element; check your installation," one for each file. (I use all OGG's, BTW.)
Install gstreamer-plugins-default and run gst-register (as your user) I'll make it an explicit dependency when I next build rhythmbox - my bad </quote>

I had read that and done that already. Any other suggestions? Thanks, Henry Harpending

Install gstreamer-plugins-default (Damn, thought I'd put it in as an explicit dependency...) -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org GNOME for SuSE: http://usr-local-bin.org/rpms
