Ugh - after mucking about for hours and even re-installing several times, I give up. The machine locks on an irregular basis. The wireless (intel 3945) seems to only work when it wants (it sees the network but refuses to attach) and the wired (broadcom something) seems to drop the connection every five or so minutes.
