I did a clean install of 7.1 and included all mysql packages. I get an error on boot saying it can't find /var/lib/mysql/mysql.socket. I understand that file location was moved in mysql 3.23.32-0, but that file does not exist anywhere on my machine. I removed and reinstalled the package to see if that would fix it. My mysql has a build date of 2001-01-24 05:49. I did an "on-line update" via yast2 and it did not pick up any new files. Thanks, Gary

How did you start up MySQL for the first time? You should run /etc/init.d/mysql start once to initialize the database.
