One non-squid thought that I have is try wget to update pages [you could then dump them into an apache dir!] you could set cron to: cd /usr/local/httpd && wget -r -k www.blah.com the "-r" is recursive and the "-k" is to translate non-relative to relative addresses, i.e a link to http://www.blah.com/foo/bar.html gets changed to "/foo/bar.html" so that it doesn't attempt an online website access.
