When I sold computers UPS was nortorous for getting lost in Canada so we used FedEx. You might have a friend order it and send it to you that way.

Aside from the added cost, how would that help to convince them to not use UPS? So long as they ship only UPS, I will not buy. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

UPS is DEFINITELY the single worst choice for a courier in Canada. My family lives in Canada, and UPS never has gotten a delivery right.. ever. Usually UPS ends up taking the package back and forth for several weeks between two cities that are 300 and 600 km away from where my parents live. I have found it easier to buy a copy of openSUSE in Europe, and ship it myself to Canada... not only easier, but it is faster to get it delivered AND cheaper than paying UPS to loose the package. In northern England it's known as "UUuuPss .... they've delivered to the wrong place again !" In south-east Australia around Sydney things are the similar. Thanks to UPS and Fedex (in the UK) I've had to give up on buying Linux CD/DVDs and get a broadband connection instead. When I buy things online I have to check to see who is delivering before I go any further. -- Richard www.sheflug.org.uk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If that would help you I got mine delivered by DHL. DHL is a bit complicated by delivery, as they want to make sure that you get your package, but that is probably the point. -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Interesting. My wife does quite a bit of eBay and while she uses USPS
mainly for her shipping, she receives most of her products via UPS, and
we've never had a problem. I recently took a train from Boston to San
Diego, and a cruise to Hawaii, and I sent my suitcase via UPS (ground)
to San Diego. While the initial estimate online was 10 days, the
suitcase actually arrived in 4 days. The hotel told my wife they didn't
get it, but I was able to track it on my PDA, and when my wife told
them who signed for the package the hotel found it. Again, my
experience with UPS is domestic in the US, and they have been very,
very good.

Generally, I think domestic UPS in Canada (ie shipping city to city) is reasonable too. The problems come when you try to ship something across the border from the US to Canada... customs processing fees can and do often exceed the original value of the stuff being shipped... and if you are getting it shipped outside a major city, you're basically screwed. UPS just cannot get it right for shipping to rural or small town Canada. Purolator or others.. no problems.. UPS.. it'll rarely ever arrive. My complaint about UPS is for the obscene "brokerage" charges they have for anything shipped into Canada. They're so high, they approach what I'd be paying for OpenSUSE. If they used any other courier or even the post office, such charges, if any, would be much more reasonable. -- Use OpenOffice.org http://www.openoffice.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
