is anyone familiar with state of voice synthesis/screen readers in linux today? i have a couple of blind friends who are interested in using learning how to use linux, and i'm researching the feasibility. how good is the software available? is it enough for everyday use of the system? finally, will suse be including emacspeak, rsynth, festival, or the like in any upcoming distrobutions? (i did look on my 6.3 cd's as well as my 5.3 and didn't see any of these programs.) thanks, derek -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
You can go to the following URL and do a search on 'voice'. It listed 18 apps, if all of them deal with voice" http://www.linuxapps.com Also: http://www-4.ibm.com/software/speech/dev/sdk_linux.html has one of the better voice recognition run_times available. From that URL you can find links to download the Linux version stuff. JLK Michael Derek Barnett wrote:
