[opensuse] Midori on Suse 11.2
Heard somewhere enthusiastic comments about the web browser Midori. Went to Yast and found it there. Installed it and wanted to have a look at this small web browser. Found it back in the menu and started it. And now I need help :) First info I received was: ----------- gcjwebplugin error: Failed to run/etc/alternatives/../../bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window ----------- Looked in /etc/alternatives/../../bin/java which did not help me much. Running firefox -g gave me Firefox and following message: ----------- nss-shared-helper NSS_USE_SHARED_DB enable ----------- Could not find nss-shared-helper. No idea where that would be hidden. Finally I ran midori in konsole which gave me following output. ---------- ~> midori /usr/src/packages/BUILD/icedtea6-1.7.3/plugin/icedteanp/IcedTeaNPPlugin.cc:1427: thread 0x80f5738: Error: Failed to spawn applet viewer: Failed to execute child process "/etc/alternatives/../../bin/java" (No such file or directory) *** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: /usr/lib/browser- plugins/skypebuttons.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory *** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: /usr/lib/browser- plugins/skypebuttons.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory *** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: failed to initialize plugin-side RPC client connection *** NSPlugin Wrapper *** WARNING: (/usr/src/packages/BUILD/nspluginwrapper-1.2.2/src/npw- wrapper.c:3156):invoke_NP_Initialize: assertion failed: (rpc_method_invoke_possible(g_rpc_connection)) *** NSPlugin Wrapper *** WARNING: (/usr/src/packages/BUILD/nspluginwrapper-1.2.2/src/npw- wrapper.c:3156):invoke_NP_Initialize: assertion failed: (rpc_method_invoke_possible(g_rpc_connection)) Illegal instruction -- Linux User 183145 using LXDE on a Pentium III , powered by openSUSE 11.2 (i586) Kernel: 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop LXDE WM & KDE Development Platform: 4.4.3 (KDE 4.4.3) 12:08pm up 2 days 17:24, 2 users, load average: 1.22, 3.77, 4.11 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I found similar problem and solved it by installing java-1_6_0-sun package instead of the default openSUSE 11.2, java-1_6_0-openjdk package. It seems that java-1_6_0-openjdk package doesn't correctly contains gcjwebplugin.so. The old package for openSUSE 11.0 has the plugin on it's package. off-topic, You may also hit similar error message while running Firefox on terminal. Thanks Mas, but even after I had changed to the sun java the problem still exists. Will keep the Midori project pending for the moment. ;) On Friday 11 June 2010 03:40:46 Masim "Vavai" Sugianto wrote:
