[SLE] Linux Database Question
As I ask this question, bear in mind that my understanding of "database" is currently based on the Access, Approach, Paradox type of application, with nice wizards and code builders etc. Is there a similar program out for Linux yet? What is a good first database to learn in Linux? ************************************ Powered by SuSE Linux 6.4 KMail 1.0.28 Bryan S. Hi Bryan, I come from the same background. I recently started to experiment with POSTGRES. I took me a while to understand the basics and to get it working, but it does now. I recommend reading the howto, especially the introduction, great fun, good stuff. There is an X application called pgaccess with wich you can build forms, queries, functions etc. It is not as friendly yet as Access-like environments, but its getting there. hope this helps, jeroen

There is an MS Access type app for Linux, called pgaccess that uses the postgres database, and has some of the visual functionality of access. Have a look at http://www.flex.ro/pgaccess. I have used this product and itr seems quite good. I also beleive that there is similar type products for Mysql, Mysqlgui and xmysql (courtesy of Linux format magazine). Hope this helps Pete On Sat, 09 Sep 2000, Bryan S. Tyson wrote:
