Hi, I'm using yast1 to install suse7.0 via ftp. When I configure all the IP addresses needed for the communication and then try to connect to the ftp server I get a message telling me that I need at least 72MB RAM to do an installation via ftp. My computer is a Compaq Armada. I only have 32 MB. Is this a bug?? Is there a work around besides adding more memory? Thanks... Joris

Gabriele The config that comes with netatalk should work fine, just edit /etc/atalk/atalkd.conf and put in the correct device, i.e., eth0 or eth1 etc. -- _ _ __ _____ _____ ___| |_ | '__| / __\ \ /\ / / _ \/ _ \ __| -o) | | _ \__ \\ V V / __/ __/ |_ /\\ |_|(_) |___/ \_/\_/ \___|\___|\__|_\_v rsweet@socal.rr.com "unix soit qui mal y pense."

Okay, let me be somehow more clear. I installed a 7.0 p.e. on a PII, and i made netatalk start as a system daemon, by setting the START_ATALK variable to yes in the /etc/rc.config file. Then i edited /etc/atalk/atalkd.conf file (i just wrote to listen to eth0) I also edited the AppleVolumes.Default file. My problem is that the chooser on a mac sees the share but doesn't allow any user to access it. I fear that the matter is about password scrambling (AppleShare doesn't scramble passwords), but i ain't so sure. That's why i needed a working AppleVolumes.Default file... Can anyone give me a suggestion??? Thanks in advance Gabriele
re gabrielle,
do you have the right permissions on the directory that you want to
access over netatalk ??
lets say you want to use /apple as a share.
make a group with yast called apple
add users that should be allowed to log on and add them to that group
also, in the user info, edit the group field so that it reads apple
do a chown
