Re: [SLE] SuSE Enterprise 8 is only a lie?
I did the same steps since the first time.
But I got this error message :
"
Sie haben einen Fehlerhaften Registriercode angegeben
"
Well, I called the SuSE support by phone and they
confused about that.
Schei Produkte, How can a such expensive product has
been forgot by the its vendor self?
Do you know what SuSE Linux Enterprise Server is? it
is only SuSE 8.0 and even less than that.
Too expensive, old software, buggy, missing
Registration code etc.
Well... SuSE should make a detail content list of SuSE
Enterprise Server 8 on the web, what and which
version, so nobody will buy this stupid package
(product).
I wish my money back. I called the customer service
and tell all of my business partners, customers, and
my business connections.
I have enough. It's a trick.
Thank you for you advise, Ron. I appreciate your help.

Prabu,
When you created your account on portal.suse.com, you registered your copy of SLES-8. You cna either use the pwd that you set up for your portal account, or within the portal set up other registered usernames to use for upgrades.
Let me know if you still are having problems.
Ron

The contents of SLE8 are freely available on the net IIRC. A little research would have showed you what was in the box. A moment's thought would have suggested that SLE8 and SuSE8 might be connected, and you could certainly have looked for the release date of SLE8 to see how long it's been out and hence what could possibly be in the box. AFAICS this is mostly your own fault for buying a package without checking what was in the box, and then being surprised when it was a stable (i.e. old) release rather than a cutting-edge release. Blaming SuSE for this is just unfair. The only complaint you actually seem to have with SuSE is tracking down the password so that you can use YOU, and calming down a little might help there also. why on the net of IIRC? Why not on the SuSE's web
self?
Password? I never forgot my password and I have all of
my password on the and it's kept in my residence.
You know what the SuSE customer support said? They
know nothing about this Registration Code. And it cost
me one day for waiting.
It's not my fault. It's SuSE's.
I never found such customer treatment as bad as SuSE
does. no product details on their web cause buying a
product by mistake, cool.... what a brilyant business
people.
Thanks john and the other friends....

I contacted SuSE for advice regarding best version for my intended use and the possibility of an evaluation copy. I received excellent and logical advice by both email and telephone and an evaluation copy of S8 within 2 days. I made similar enquiries of RedHat ... and I'm still waiting for a reply. Consequently, my infrastructure will be based upon SuSE. Roy ---------------------------------------------------------------- [This message has been routed via James V2.1.3 on REBEX-MERCURY]

What you fail to understand is that SuSE certifies SLES 8 against Oracle, DB2 and other such software. These third party ISV's WILL NOT certify against something that changes with the wind. You'll find that Redhats Enterprise server doesn't upgrade willynilly every month as Fedora is able to do.. or as SuSE Pro/Personal. If you think they are going to put KDE 3.2.1, the newest kernel..etc..etc for download as far as SLES is concerned then you bought the wrong product. If you want to keep bleeding edge then buy SUSE 9.0 Pro and set your stuff up on that. If not then quite complaining about how SUSE's support sucks. This list isn't santioned by SUSE for support issues for their Enterprise platform... and were not going to yank your change and placate to your hostile attitude about what you bought. You didn't do the research to understand how the SLES upgrades work or what you were paying for and if you go for RHES 3.x then your gonna be in the same boat and just as angry. So lets stop this talk on the SLE. Please take your complaints to SUSE themselves through the support contract that you bought from SUSE with the SLES 8 pkg. Because most of us have better things to do then read your rants and email with one addition line added without trimming out the excess. It's unproductive and a waste of bandwidth. -- Linux User #147972 ---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org -- "There is no need to teach that stars can fall out of the sky and land on a flat Earth in order to defend religious faith."
