All, I'm trying to export a dia diagram as a pdf. It is die'ing when I try to do that. Do I need to install something else? === Detail
dia sys:1: GtkWarning: idle activate multiple times without clearing the folder obje ct first. Print dialog? dia: symbol lookup error: /opt/gnome/lib/dia/libcairo_filter.so: undefined symbo l: cairo_pdf_surface_set_dpi_REPLACED_BY_cairo_surface_set_fallback_resolution
I have 3 cairo products installed, but there are several more. Maybe one of them should be a dependancy for dia? I have: cairo, cairo-devel, python-cairo Thanks Greg -- Greg Freemyer Litigation Triage Solutions Specialist http://www.linkedin.com/in/gregfreemyer The Norcross Group The Intersection of Evidence & Technology http://www.norcrossgroup.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hi, I don't know about dia and its export functionality. However if you can print then you can also use the pdf printer that opensuse installs. Maybe this works as an alternative pdf generator for you. regards Eberhard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Seems reasonable, but I've never used a pdf printer under suse. Per: http://en.opensuse.org/Printing_to_PDF_HOWTO I need to download, compile, install one. I gather their is a better way in opensuse 10.2? ie. The only printer I currently have available is my HP 4500. So I need to somehow make the pdf printer available. you need no printer, but the kprinter kde printing tool, from any kde application... pdf is an option jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://gourmandises.orangeblog.fr/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I don't think DIA is a kde application, so that won't help me unless I'm missing something. (I am new to really using KDE.) I have stuck to CLI for years, so basically I'm a newbie at the GUI level. Didn't have time to play games today. I installed dia on a windows box and pdf export worked as designed. I'll try to get dia / pdf printer to work in a couple weeks. There is no game(s). Sending the print output from dia to *kprinter* and selecting the *already* installed pdf option does it all. I really am a Linux GUI newbie (CLI expert), and I only setup this desktop a couple days ago but ...
From dia I only have 2 print choices: "lpr" and "file".
lpr causes the drawing to go to my printer. file I assume creates a PostScript file. I assume I could then run ps2pdf from cli to convert it. FYI: The dia method is to export the drawing to a pdf, but that is apparently broken in suse 10.2 and will shortly be fixed in factory. Sigh, so what am I missing that allows DIA to directly print to a pdf printer? Never mind. The secret was to type "kprinter" on top of the prefilled textbox that had "lpr" in it. Then I had a dialog box that allowed the pdf printer pulldown. Greg On 8/17/07, Greg Freemyer <greg.freemyer@gmail.com> wrote:

"lpr" comes up in a window where you have the option to type another destination. Type "kprinter" into that window and select "ok", all w/o the quote marks. When kprinter opens, you have a drop down menu under the "Printer" section where you can select the particular printer/action you wish. Select "Print to file (PDF)". then, at the bottom of the kprinter window, select "Print". not quite "Rockette science". -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Look for the 0.96.1 update which should be on factory soon and in beta 2. This should solve the problem. -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
