I usually get a very good connection to ftp.gwdg.de in Germany. The suse site is mirrored under linux/suse/ftp.suse.com If sunet.se, funet.fi or sunsite.dk would mirror it too I would be extatic, because against those I get *wonderful* connections :) //Anders
Hi The problem is, that I need the SuSE RPM-packages, because the binaries from XFree86.org does screw up the permissions, so "normal" users are not able to start for example StarOffice 5.2, can not play any sound etc... I believe that SuSEs own RPM packages does not have this permission problem. Jaska. Viestissä Keskiviikko 27 Helmikuu 2002 23:29, Anders Johansson kirjoitti:

Yes, and ftp.gwdg.de has the suse site mirrored, so you can get the SuSE rpms from ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/X I see from the page jonothan linked to that sunet.se has started mirroring as well, but they seem to be out of date. ftp.gwdg.de looks more current to me. For instance mantel/next on sunet.se still hasn't the 2.4.18 kernel. //Anders
Hi Anders Thank You for this. I did not see the correct directory in first time there... I got speeds like 0.5 - 2.0 kb/sec from suse.com, but now it is coming at 45.5 kb/sec. Finally.. Reason is, that I need newest X for the laptop (HP Omnibook XE3), is because StarOffice (5.2 and 6.0) freezes SuSE 7.3 package X-server when I try to install them.. Jaska.
