[opensuse] AMD kills ATI brand, you can look forward to blood-stained Radeons
http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/30/amd-kills-ati-brand-you-can-look-forward-... This may not be a good idea for a number of reasons. "Brand loyalty" aside, can they now sell off "ATI" (brand or entity) when they hit hard financial times? -- There's about as much difference between the two major party's as there is between McDonald's and Burger King fries. They both cost too much and neither one is good for you. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

They won't be selling it off any time soon. Right now AMD is working on fixing ATI. I went to school with a guy that's a MTS and his boss is actually going to Canada shortly to help them sort the mess out. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I hope they fix it before shipping any product with the AMD brand. Right now ATI == "never again" in my head, while AMD == "OK with some caveats". They could easily damage the AMD brand if they're not careful. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

What is there to sell? All they are doing is moving the line into their own brand under the AMD label. Once they have that done, selling three letters with no technology behind it gets them nothing. -- _____________________________________ At one time I had a Real Sig. Yes, that's my point. By absorbing ATI and 'abolishing' the brand, they can no longer sell it off. -- Your skid stops here. (Seen on back of lorry) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
