All, How can do this while I am in 8.1 . The problems is the cd rom might not be detected after I boot from the floopy . I would like to be in 8.1 access the /dev/hde (my cd rom) and install 9.1 ,can I do that. TIA

First I would try putting your 9.1 cd in the drive and booting the system. You can also google about for a floppy disk utility that boots selected drives including cd-roms. Linux Format has been putting this on their disks. HTH Mike
