I'm pretty sure that anyone who cares about the malware issue, or who
has been badly burned by malware, bought a Mac or switched to LINUX a
long time ago. Anyone who still uses Windows is either a hearty and
dedicated soul or has no choice.

Actually, they are well-conditioned masochists. People are creatures of habit and will continue to do something painful, no matter how painful, if that's all they know or are compelled to do. Using GNU/Linux or Macs would be frightening because it would not bring the kind of stress, pain and frustration they are accustomed to. It's way too scary to try something new, no matter how much better it is. But this will end. Macs and GNU/Linux are slowly becoming more like Windows with respect to the pain and frustration that are inflicted on users. Windows is dominant because they can compel people to get used to pain. They've been doing it for 30++ years. The Windows industry knows how to beat the crap out of people, make them like it and hurry back for more. Kind of like addicts. == jd Paranoid schizophrenics outnumber their enemies at least two to one. - -- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.4-svn0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFL6Cm/hpL3F+HeDrIRAiAkAJ9iBHp1gXZRbPf7EMXSLKm2Y1Ni2wCfaZA/ soAviX3cUwf12rHaYWZ6vDg= =GQMV -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
I'm new to openSUSE. I used Windows since v3.1. Before that, since 1981, I used DOS. I recently left Windows Vista after being plagued by malware and Microsoft "Security Essentials" couldn't stop it. I'm learning Linux/openSUSE as I go along. There are plenty of resources of "how-to" articles for newcomers. I am weening myself off of my MS box the more I learn about the capabilities and security of Linux. Since I used DOS quite a bit even within Vista, I love using the terminal in Linux. The only (minor) things I'm missing from Windows are my Huey monitor calibration and the two hotties (Crystal and Charlene) from the "Windows 7 was my idea" commercials. Hehe Mike
