[opensuse] case sensitive search in dolphin
Hello, I sometime have to manage identical files from linux and windows, the only difference being the extension jpg versus JPG (case difference) -è I usually try to remove duplicates. Do you know any way to make this with Dolphin? Dolphin in my most used tool. I know how I can do this with Thunar, for example, but do not like to launch an other explorer just to do that. Search box in kde (including kde4) used to have a full box with this option, but now it seems I can only use the filter bar (case insensitive) and the small search utility is also case insensitive. thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I don't remember ever seeing that search facility. I wonder if it was replaced or removed from KDE4, maybe it was thought obsolete with Baloo I use the "Find" (/edit/find -or- put the find icon on the Dolphin Menu bar). This of works BEST if you use Baloo (and ugly friends) but I've found Baloo work very well and does not impact performance. The search is case insensitive, but the list of results is sorted with case sensitivity. There is a setting in Dolphin to use Natural Sorting, but I have no clue what that means... -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I tried it and did not see any difference. I know the folder where I want to sort the files, so the best thing (for me) should be to have case sensitivity on the filter panel, but search is more general thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

oh, yes; natural is about sorting numbers I found a - partial - answer to my search. The search box I seek for is not in ksearch, but in kfind :-) kfind have the option "case sensitive". Good. is there a way to make kfind available from inside dolphin? that is to start kfind in the current dolphin folder? thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I found a reasonable fix: in dolphin, on any folder, right clic, properties, options, add, look for "file and folder search" (or similar name) in utilkities, somthing that represent kfind. *do not let it in the first place* it would open it in place of going inside the folder :-) one just have to remember to go to the upper folder (the folder the files to search for are in) jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
