[opensuse] zypper -dist-upgrade
Has anyone tried and succeeded with a distribution upgrade from 11.0 to 11.1 i586? I had a non-oss repo failure update failure on the factory/non-oss repo. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Zypper complained that it was unable to determine the repo type, and hence could not refresh it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I did, for some value of "succeeded." I needed to manually adjust my KDE4 configuration, and 11.1 disabled my wireless card and substituted a non- working configuration of its own. After a bit of experimentation, though, I now have what seems to be a working system. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I tried it first, but it just upgraded 338 packages and left me with a broken 11.0 install, so I ended up downloading the DVD iso and using that. What I meant by broken is every time I tried to log in any where it would fail with a "Module is unknown" error. -- "We must plan for freedom, and not only for security, if for no other reason than only freedom can make security more secure." That's a known and solvable error - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Well the DVD was able to solve the problem, I had it anyways because I wanted to change my Desktop from the PAE kernel to the x86_64 bit one so no big deal for me. -- "We must plan for freedom, and not only for security, if for no other reason than only freedom can make security more secure." Yeah, it updated about that many packages and now the install is broken as well. I'm presently verifying a burn of the 11.1i586 DVD and will go that route. I'm not sure if I'll end up dl'ing the x86_64 DVD, or just try to do the in-line upgrade on my laptop. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It worked fine for me, which is good as the system won't read DVDs and I would not have been able to burn them this weekend, either. Only problem I noted until now is that the updater applet doesn't seem to recognize the update repository that I added from the repositories list. It just keeps telling me to configure one, but YAST2 can find the patches. Did anybody figure out how to solve this?
