Hi I have just installed SUSE 7.0, and have booted into X windows. However, if I open a shell window, and try to type on the keyboard, the characters are all wrong..i.e K is an L, D is a U, CR is an 8. In KDE, my keyboard is set to Language English Charset Default. Any ideas? I trying to get X working at home so that I can connect to the unix server at work (via telnet). There are some X appliactions that I need to run, however they don't work. I set the display variable to my local ip address but when I try to start anything (say xterm) I get the following error Xlib: connection <my ip address> refused by server Xlib: Client is not authorised to connect to server I'm guessing that I have to configure some security stuff on my end to allow remote connections like this but I can't seem to find out where. Could someone help? Also does anyone know if XFree86 supports xdmp connections, and if so where I migh find out how to set them up Ant help appreciated Jeff -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

It will take care of all of the details for you. You're looking for "xhost" xhost + <ipaddress> should do it, but read the man page. HTH! Geordon -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
