[SLE] Epson Color Stylus 640 and SuSE 6.4
I am trying to set up this printer in SuSE. I am almost starting to think this printer is fubar. It doesn't work worth a hoot in Linux, though it's supposed to be 'perfect' and it doesn't even work real well in windows anymore. It doesn't print correctly at all. It either a) feeds through blank pages b) prints garbled print ocde crap c) feeds pages slightly crooked, wrinkling/tearing them d) keeps printing the same crap as above after a poweroff and on cycle. I am just trying to use the yast2 printer setup module. I'd be willing to try something else if someone has any suggestions. Monte __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The program to look for is: /var/lib/aspfilter/SETUP YMMV Charles -- ===================================================== One Net to rule them all, One Net to find them, One Net to bring them all, and with Linux bind them. ===================================================== -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
Is it supported it the compont database/list ? I have an Epson Stylus 1160 (unsuported by suse) and have been using the ESP print drivers from www.easysw.com. They suport a ton of printers. Check there list. Very good drivers worth the 30 $ they ask for. They suport multiple resolutions and its very easy to set up and install. Yould need to DL the driver software , driver packagege for specific printer , install them , get a key from the software , log back into there web , supply them the key and they will give you one to unlock the drivers. Demos good for 30/60 days I think. At 08:05 PM 5/14/2000 -0600, milanuk@yahoo.com wrote:

I have the Epson 460 and used yast to setup the printer and it works fine. When choosing your printer choose other/stcolor. Printer worked first time.
