I have a 440 and found that Yasts didn't worked for me either. I finally got it working by using Apsfilters' own setup program. The program to look for is:

/var/lib/aspfilter/SETUP

I have the Epson 460 and used yast to setup the printer and it works fine. When choosing your printer choose other/stcolor. Printer worked first time.
