Hi Gerhard, I have checked my mail logs and apparently some messages are marked as spam and filtered, but i continue to receive many more spam messages, which are very similar. I execute spam-learn in order to learn from some messages that i mark as spam. 'spam-learn' apparently is executed with success but does not learn from the messages i choose and every day i receive very similar messages not filtered by spamassassin. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance On Friday 10 December 2004 09:10, Gerhard den Hollander wrote:

(Fri, Dec 10, 2004 at 09:13:39AM +0000) Hi to all,
I have a postfix+spamassassin+clamAV configuration and all works well except spamassassin.
When a mail message arrives at my mail server i can see on my logs that it is filtered throught clamAV and spamassassin in order to scan it for viruses or spam. ClamAV works great and spamassassin also cheks the message to see if it is spam, but unfortunately SpamAssassin does not mark spam messages as spam and i continue to receive spam.
I know that Spamassassin work with message statistics and i thought that the first spam would pass the spam tests but as the time goes on spamassassin would learn from messages which one is spam. Unfortunately i have spamassassin running for the past 4 months and all spam passes through the spam filter and it is not marked as spam.
Do you have any idea what might be wrong here? Is there any configuration parameter which i should set on spamassasin?
Thanks to all in advance.
What do you mean with ``does not mark as spam''
Are you referring to rewritng the subject to include the word *** SPAM *** or are you refering to adding an extra mail header indicating spam ?
The first needs to be turned on in the spamassassin configuration file the second should always work.
You need to have your mail filter filer on the mail header, not on the subject.

Check your headers; you should see something like these: Subject: Re: [SLE] SpamAssasin does not mark mail messages X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at nimrodel.valinor X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.64 (2004-01-11) on nimrodel.valinor X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-4.8 required=5.0 tests=AWL,BAYES_00 autolearn=ham version=2.64 Notice the BAYES_* token, it should be there. If it is not, then it is not enabled, or it hasn't learnt enough yet. If it is there, but the value is incorrect, you probably need to retrain it anew: delete the bayes_journal, bayes_seen, and bayes_toks files. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
