RE: [SLE] Loadlin boot can't start network
saw this problem once with a 3Com 905Tx card with dual boot win95 and linux. Linux required cold boot of NIC before it would work. Easy to see as the detection phase would show a MAC ID of FF:FF:FF....etc. Remember reading somewhere it was something to do with Windows not properly resetting the Plug and Play part on the PCI Bus!? Maybe you are having similar problems. Does a cold reboot work? RikD.

I'm running SuSE 6.0 on a dual-disk system. Win98 is on drive C: and Linux is on the other disk, booted usually from a floppy. I'm connected to a LAN, and thence to the Net.
Started this way, Linux sees my LinkSys network card and connects with no problem. Started with loadlin from Win98, however, it doesn't connect. The boot messages show no such adapter, etc. I'm switching to DOS real mode before running loadlin.
Has anyone had this problem? Does this mean the loadlin boot doesn't reset something the cold boot does? Is there a way to reset or reboot the card from DOS or Linux? Thanks in advance.
