[opensuse] Leap 42.1 Beta, quick report
So, I've installed Leap 42.1 Beta 2 days ago. Here is a quick report of what I've found so far: 1. Network ISO. Asks how do I want to connect (wifi, wpa2-psk), then asks which mirror to use, than again asks how to connect and loops in those 2 questions without ever exiting. Was not able to go any farther, so had to download full iso. 2. ISO installation went very well, even much better than 13.2 because it had nasty issue of scanning my built-in ssd (zenbook ux32vd) for 40 minutes, Leap scanned it relatively fast. Only couple of minor issues with package selection with "minimal X" variant: a) it wants to install GTK 3 without a single GTK3 app? b) looks like yast-ncurses is the only yast ui present. c) no pattern for LXQt, while it is relatively stable at this point, maybe even version 0.10 will come in time for the release. Hopefully it will not be hard to get up-to-date and stabilized version later, so not a big issue. d) with minimal X variant, would be nice to have some lightweight web browser as well. 3. New IceWM theme is great! Thanx! 4. Plymouth screen misses the chameleon... 5. Though I haven't checked which exact font is that, default plasma 5 font is quite awkward, looks like some kind of mix of serif and sans-serif family. I've seen a proposal of changing the default font to Google Noto, looks like it was not applied yet? 6. And the biggest hit so far is missing packman repos, so I will not install Leap on other machines until packman will catch up. So far release is great! Haven't expected it to be so stable and so polished already, waiting with anticipation for final release! Thanx everyone who put their effort in making this release work! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
