Hello: This isn't a vital problem: it falls more under the category of "annoying things you want to go away." Just got a new laptop, and blew away windows and installed SuSE 8.0 on it. So far, seems to be working pretty well (even got the wireless card going with a minimum of cursing). Well, as I recall the (non-ultra) SCSI bus carries 7 ID's. Coincidence?

There is a kernel setting "Probe all luns on each scsi device". If looks like this should be set to "no" for you. You might try "max_scsi_luns=1" in your lilo.conf append line.
